Who We Are:
The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a nonpartisan organization of women and men. Our mission is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens on important public issues; to influence public policy through education and advocacy; and to encourage millions of citizens to exercise their right to vote.
LWV is a membership organization with members joining in the county (Montgomery or Prince Georges) in which they reside. LWV at Riderwood brings selected events such as discussion groups, webinars, talks, etc. to the Riderwood campus for the convenience of members and others. We also make the non-partisan Voters’ Guide available before every election.
The Riderwood League of Women Voters group meets monthly September to May. For more information contact Mary Lanigan at LWV@riderwoodlife.com.

Affordable Housing Maryland Study
Housing is something important to all of us. How do we facilitate affordable housing for the members of our community? Come and learn about the Affordable Housing Maryland Study and vote (LWV members) on the consensus questions.
LWV of Maryland last studied affordable housing in 2006, with some positions dating back to 1982 and 1983. The current study was authorized at the 2025 LWVMD Convention. The three consensus questions proposed, if adopted by the membership, would update the LWVMD Housing positions that can be used for advocacy by LWVMD and local Leagues in Maryland.
There is a housing shortage across all of Maryland leading to population loss, loss of workforce, and lost revenue. Come to learn more about what factors contribute to a shortage of affordable housing. The presentation and discussion will be led by a member of the Affordable Housing study group.
You must be an active member of the League of Women Voters in order to vote on the consensus questions. Anyone can attend and participate in the discussion. You can join or check your membership here.

LWV Voters’ Guides
VOTE411 is an interactive guide accessed from a website on a computer, smartphone, tablet, etc. Enter your address and VOTE411 displays all of the offices and candidates that will be on your ballot.
The other LWV guides provide non-partisan election information you need for each County. These are available about a month before an Election and provide information about candidates, and more.
