ChitChat is an email discussion group for residents of Riderwood Village. The topics include anything of interest to a member that is clearly presented in a respectful manner. If members disagree with each other, they are encouraged to ask questions to be sure they understand what the other person means.
The purpose of discussion is understanding and community-building. We can share our opinions and concerns respectfully and cordially so we can learn from the give-and-take of lively discussions.
The moderators will be actively participating in the discussion and helping members privately, off-list, to find the best inoffensive language and terminology. The purpose is to develop awareness of what is important or not important to others.
Sometimes the message volume will be high, so members are encouraged to just delete or mute topics of no interest to them.
The moderators will remind members about features that help limit messages on subjects they might not want to discuss, so others can continue to discuss freely. It is rather difficult to get to know each other and understand our opinions without the back-and-forth of discussion.
As the group grows, we will explore cautions and guidelines, but to begin, the moderators believe that respectful open discussion is the best way to determine what works for Riderwood residents.
To join our new ChitChat email group, simply send an email to: ChitChat+subscribe@RWV.groups.io . Just copy and paste the address into a new email message. No subject or message text is needed, but you can enter those if required by your email tool. Expect a “Confirm” email message from Groups.io, which you need to reply to for your subscription to be activated. Once your subscription has been accepted, you will receive a Welcome email message.
