The Continuing Education Committee established Short Courses as an innovative program by and for residents. Operating since March 2023, Short Courses offers sessions twice a year. Instructors, who are either Riderwood residents or outside guests, volunteer their time and expertise to teach for the benefit of the community. Courses are available without charge, span two to four weeks, and are offered either on campus or via Zoom.
Note: The Short Courses program is not affiliated with either Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) or its SAGE program (Seasoned Adults Growing Educationally).

Fall 2026 Short Courses: Important Upcoming Dates at a glance.
Although the sign-up window for Fall 2026 Short Courses has closed, the following class has some open seats that are available on a first-come, first-served basis:
- Understanding Families Through Plays taught by Karen Lewis in the Lakeside Commons Card Room on Saturdays, November 7 and 14 from 10:00 a.m. -12 noon
If you would like to take the class, please show up to the first class and a volunteer will let you know if there are any spaces available when you arrive.
