Comcast/Xfinity offers an optional digital video recorder (DVR) to us. The DVR will allow you to record programs and then replay them later. You must phone Comcast and request a DVR to be delivered to you. There is a monthly charge for this recorder which currently (March 2024) is $10.00/month plus taxes.
Record a standard broadcast program
Unfortunately, Comcast offers several different DVRs and instructions for recording will differ depending upon your model. Most recently Comcast has been supplying a X1 DVR Box like the one shown here. In
structions for recording a standard broadcast program on the X1 DVR Box can be found by clicking here. Recording standard broadcast programs on other DVRs would be similar.
Record Riderwood TV (Channels 1970, 1971 or 1972)
Recording an in-house Riderwood station is more complex because highlighting the program on the guide and pressing record will not be successful. Instead, you must do a manual channel recording on the X1 DVR Box. Instructions for manual recording can be found by clicking here. Make certain to follow instruction to the end and when finished, press the up-arrow button until you reach the Confirm option. Press OK to confirm your choices.
Recording an in-house Riderwood station on a non-X1 DVR Box most likely will not be successful if you follow the instructions in the paragraph above. You can try an alternate method which has been successful with some Boxes by clicking here. If the alternate method is not successful you may try calling Comcast for help. However, you will be unable to record Riderwood TV if you have a X1 Non-DVR Box. Click here or click here for a comparison of TV Box equipment types. Call Comcast and request a X1 DVR Box if you have X1 Non-DVR Box.
