The Riderwood Computer Club provides support for resident groups to have a self-managed email group on RWV.groups.io. An email group can be used for either just a simple distribution list or for a full discussion group, where all subscribers can participate via email.

Residency Restriction
Email groups on RWV.groups.io are only open to Riderwood residents, so new subscriptions to any email group are reviewed prior to authorizing the subscription, to assure that only Riderwood residents are able to subscribe. All approved residents are part of the parent group, Main@RWV.groups.io. This group is only used to track approved subscribers and is neither a distribution list nor a discussion group.
Email Group Types
While the groups.io platform provides a large selection of options for groups, to keep things simple for residents, group moderators, and Computer Club admins, the Computer Club supports 4 basic types that can meet the needs of most Riderwood resident clubs and groups:
- Private Distribution List
- Private Discussion Group
- Public Distribution List
- Public Discussion Group
For a PRIVATE email group, new members are either invited by a group moderator or require approval by a group moderator prior to becoming a member.
A PUBLIC email group is open for all Riderwood residents to subscribe to.
A DISTRIBUTION LIST group is Announce Only, so that members can not send email messages, only receive them from authorized moderators.
A DISCUSSION GROUP allows members to send, as well as receive, email messages. The email group moderators need to assure that the discussions are focused as intended.
The Messages archives, stored at Groups.io for each email group, are visible only to members of the email group.
Email Group Moderators
If you would like to set up an email group, you will need at least two residents to be moderators for your group. The moderators will be responsible for managing the day to day activities for the email group, while the Computer Club administrators will manage the group setup and troubleshoot any issues.
