To promote consistency across RWV.groups.io subgroups, and to assure the security and privacy of the subgroups, the set up for all of the RWV.groups.io subgroups is similar and tailored for the Riderwood Village context.

Subgroup Settings
Each Subgroup as an Email Address, a Group Description for the subgroup home page, and a Cover Photo for the home page. (Note that the Email Address will be used as the groups.io Title for the subgroup as well.)
In addition, there are a number of different groups.io Settings that can be specified. This section discusses the non-default settings that are used when a Computer Club Admin creates a new subgroup.
PRIVACY
Visibility
- Subgroup listed in parent group, messages viewable by parent group members (Public)
- Subgroup not listed in parent group, messages viewable by subgroup members only (Private)
Member list Visibility
- For a Private subgroup, select Members.
GROUP TYPE AND MODERATION
- Restricted Membership (Check for Private)
- Invite-Only (Never Check – subgroups use +subscribe interface only, due to groups.io handling of invitations to subgroups – there is no Main approval for confirmation of residency)
- Announce-Only Group (Check for Distribution List)
MESSAGE POLICIES
- Check Disable Editing Messages
- Set Reply To: Sender
MESSAGE FORMATTING
- Check Force HTML Emails (no plain text digest)
PREMIUM & ENTERPRISE
Note that if a subgroup wants to use any of these features, they could be enabled for the specific subgroup.
- Calendar is disabled
- Member Directory is disabled
- Chat is disabled
- Databases are disabled
- Files are disabled
- Photos are disabled
- Polls are disabled
- Wiki is disabled

Groups.io provides a default Welcome message, but for Riderwood subgroups, a tailored version is provided. Additional changes can be made if needed.

Subscriber Approvals in Main
To assure that only Riderwood residents can subscribe to any RWV.Groups.io subgroup, the Main subgroup is set up as Restricted. When a new user attempts to subscribe to any RWV.groups.io subgroup, moderators of Main are notified. The Computer Club moderators check the email address against the Resident Directory of MyErickson to confirm that the user’s email is a valid resident email address.
Computer Club moderators are also responsible for removing subscribers from Main when they pass away or move out of Riderwood. The removal from Main automatically removes the subscriber from all of the subscribed subgroups as well.
