Riderwood Chapter, Senior Stewards Acting for the Environment (SSAFE)

Senior Stewards Acting for the Environment (SSAFE) is an umbrella organization with chapters at over 20 CCRC’s across the country.  It is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organized to help residents at CCRCs and management work together to reduce greenhouse emissions, advocate for climate solutions, and advance sustainability practices. The SSAFE website has extensive resources to educate and inspire residents to take action on a wide variety of environmental sustainability topics. Residents who join SSAFE can attend working groups, meetings, and presentations and ask questions of other SSAFE members. They will also receive emails with information and updates about SSAFE efforts at Riderwood. SSAFE meetings and working groups meet each month via zoom on the schedule below. Advance registration is required. Click on this LINK to get information on how to register.

  • General meeting – 1st Thursday at 11:00 AM
  • Greening our Campuses – 3rd Thursday at 11:00 AM
  • Energy – 4th Thursday at 11:00 AM
  • Advocacy Advisory – 1st Monday at 2:00 PM

The following working groups meet every other month:

  • Reducing Plastics – 1st Tuesday at 1:00 PM
  • Climate Friendly Dining – 3rd Tuesday at 1:00 PM
  • Landscaping for Biodiversity – 2nd Wednesday at 1:00 PM
