Who We Are
Welcome to the Your Neighborhood Libraries located in the media lounges of Montgomery Station and Town Center. We share our space with jigsaw puzzle fans, public computer(s) and printer, low-vision devices. We are devoted to our book collections and try to keep them current and satisfying in selection and variety.
Montgomery Station (MST)
MST has the 2nd largest number of books, including fiction, mystery, biography/memoir, history/non-fiction; the smaller sections are poetry, arts, religion, seniors/aging. There is a conference-sized table for meetings. MST has monthly book themes for reading suggestions as well as a section for recent additions.
MST does not have space for donated periodicals or free books.
Town Center (TNC)
TNC uses its legacy system by checking out by author in a tab notebook. It has a robust collection of Classic literature. Fiction and mystery categories are combined. Non-fiction includes history. There is a large-screen TV with comfortable seating. (A True “Media Lounge!”).
There is a basket for free books near the checkout area however…
The periodic “Great Book Giveaway” – free books to residents and staff – a popular event for all Riderwood residents and staff.
All of the libraries have a Resident Author Section and a Large Print book section.

Explore Our Collections
We love, and survive because of, your donations, with some caveats and general librarian discretion. See below for a composite of the donation criteria.
The Integrated catalog provides Riderwood Residents access to the entire book collection (and more) to see choices in each library and perhaps find a copy in one of the 4 venues.
Using the URL below, you can access the catalog from any computer, phone or tablet attached to a network. Search catalog by title or author or subject (Caring Connections; Resident Authors and others. Our goal is to let you know what is available and what is checked-out. (Caveat: Nothing is perfect!)

Other Places to Donate
There are organizations that take books such as Wonder Book, Turning the Page, or the Montgomery County Public Library. The Book Recycling Subcommittee of the Riderwood Recycling Committee suggests you donate small numbers (maximum 10 per day per resident) of the “Yes” books to the libraries and send larger collections (more than 1 box) directly to the organizations mentioned above. We have also started a book recycling project directly from Riderwood through the Salvation Army. (MST and VSQ, and TNC with remains from the Book Give-away.)
