Solo Agers

Solo Agers is an affinity group organized and facilitated by the Caring Connections Committee, which educates residents and empowers them and their families and other supporters, in advance of need, to act on and gain peace of mind about the various transitions experienced in the aging process.

Who are solo agers? Solo Agers are individuals who, by choice or circumstance, function without the support system, or anticipate
eventually having to function without the support system, traditionally provided by family, or by other trusted individuals.

The mission of the Solo Agers affinity group: To empower Solo Agers to manage the challenges of aging without traditional family support. We do this through presentations and discussions and by sharing with one another our concerns, ideas, resources, and any successful strategies we have used. Our next informational program will be Thursday, May 22, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM in MST Chesapeake Room. We also host informal lunches for solo agers. If you would like to be notified about the dates, times and places for the informal lunches, please contact Anne DeNovo (contact information in resident directory).

The Solo Agers group offers short, stand-alone informational programs to help residents cope with aging solo. Some of our past programs and speakers will be listed below. Click on the images to view the presentations in a new window.

Solo agers can also benefit from the two in-depth courses presented by the Caring Connections Committee: Navigating as We Age: Changes and Choices, and Financial Security: Money Management as We Age.
