OnPolitics was founded by Gene Martin years ago at his expense. Roger B. maintained it, I took it over and maintained it as a free version until it got over the 100-member limit, and I paid for it for a couple more years with a kind donation from another resident. I asked for help and funding several times, and had to turn away new members and request volunteer cancellations. Most members just spammed to get rid of seeing what offended them, either me or the group. Gaggle.email offered free membership without the 100-member limit, so I started that as a substitute. Despite the horror of Trump, nobody was willing to take it on, and now, as an announcement-only listserve, it can no longer be a democratic discussion group. We don’t need a competing undemocratic WYCD. Here is what needs to be done to activate participation.
We are facing the most horrible time for human beings that the US has ever faced. The takeover of civilization by modern autocracy. The massive use of technology to deprive most of the world of life, liberty, and freedom. But Riderwood residents have other priorities. Here is why: CCRC Residents Remain Politically Disengaged. Understand, and maybe use OnPolitics for some useful purpose. To understand what is happening, you must read and study the relevant issues. Parroting propaganda of the past or present evil is ineffective. Underlined blue links in email is part of every message. PDF files are meant. to be read and referenced, and understood. Perplexity is a tool comparable to those used to harm us and humankind – use it. If OnPolitics is only used for gripes, squabbles, and trivia – why maintain it?
We are concerned with evil people using every tool of high technology to destroy our country and spread death and misery. Those who wish to counter this damage must also utilize high technology.
