Performing Arts Council Friday Morning Music Club Series

The Friday Morning Music Club Series presents three concerts per year at 7:30 PM in our Chapel on the first Sunday of January, March, and May. Doors open at 7 PM.

The musicians for these concerts are members of the Friday Morning Music Club, a premier Washington DC music organization that was founded in 1886, when a group of 15 women began meeting in each others’ homes to study music and give private concerts. Eventually membership was opened to men, and Club performances achieved recognition for their professional quality.  In 1974 the Club began offering weekly concerts to the public and became the major presenter that it is today.

The Club supports a full orchestra, a chorale, a composers group, and an outreach program to nursing homes and retirement communities such as Riderwood.

We are able to offer these concerts at no charge to residents because FMMC does not charge a fee when they perform at Riderwood.  Seats are not reserved and tickets are distributed at the door of the chapel on a first-come first served basis.  (The tickets are used to control the number in the audience because of the Chapel’s configuration.)
