The Friday Morning Music Club Series presents three concerts per year at 7:30 PM in Riderwood’s chapel on the first Sunday of January, March, and May. Doors open at 7 PM.
This series draws its musicians from the Friday Morning Music Club, a premier Washington DC music organization that was founded in 1886, when a group of 15 women began meeting in each others’ homes to study music and give private concerts. Eventually membership was opened to men, and Club performances achieved recognition for their professional quality. In 1974 the Club began offering weekly concerts to the public and became the major presenter that it is today.
The Club supports a full orchestra, a chorale, a composers group, and an outreach program to nursing homes and retirement communities such as Riderwood.
For more information about the Friday Morning Music Club, visit their website.
We are able to offer these concerts at no charge to residents because FMMC does not charge a fee when they perform at Riderwood. Seats are not reserved; you may sit anywhere you like. Tickets are not used.
